A hook and a bag…
Have you ever walked into a space, and it all feels a little chaotic? The room is clean – you know it is, because today is Tuesday and Monday is post-weekend cleaning day. But between the bags on the table, the slingback by the door, your coat and scarf over the chair, and the umbrella on the floor, it all feels a little bit too messy and cluttered for comfort.
Our Ouma Nelie (who continues to inspire everyone at LYBL on a daily basis) would always leave her house looking pristine. She would attend Sunday service beautifully turned out in her best, and return home with not a hair out of place. She would walk through the door and hang her keys up in the same place she always did. She would then put her handbag down, in the same place as always. Unbutton her coat and hang it up on the coat rack straight away. If she was carrying an umbrella, it would go back… you guessed it… to the same place it always did.
Everything in her home had its place and a purpose. Sometimes its purpose was sentimental or decorative, sometimes functional and decorative, sometimes all three… Nonetheless, her thoughtful and disciplined approach always created a sense of calm. That, and the fact that she always had a solution for everything (but that’s an entirely different blog, and for another day).
We know that our Ouma Nelie would have loved the new LYBL stack and branch wall racks – the second and third products in our “Revelation Range”. Our hand-crafted wooden multi-purpose stack wall rack is shaped like a cone and has four hooking ridges. What we love about these is that even without adornments, they look great on a wall. They can work well solo, or as part of a duo or trio, and can be used with and without hangers (we recommend nice wooden ones).
The hanging hooks in our LYBL branch wall rack can be flattened when not in use, or tipped downwards when in use. And while we think they look great on a wall even without adornments, they really are there to serve a purpose: to hang your coat, your hat, an umbrella, keys, a towel, a laptop or shopping bag, and/or a number of your handbags. There is an underlying sentiment at the core of Dyad which echoes so much of LYBL’s own reason for being. An investment in time (all Dyad creations are guaranteed to grow more beautiful over time), a commitment to craftmanship, sustainability and community. A collection that comprises of thoughtful and timeless additions, a strong and vibrant sense of identity.
